This 1-day Mt.longonot national park climbing safari in Kenya shall take you on a climbing adventure around Mt. Longonot National Park. The park encompasses Mt. Longonot, and it is very near Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya, which offers tourists such a great climbing option. Mt. Longonot is situated 68km from Nairobi. Climbing Mt. Longonot is not so strenuous, which offers an opportunity for novice climbers to try out their luck.  The hike takes you to the top of Crater Lake, which is situated on top of this dormant volcano. Later on, you shall refresh and relax your muscles from climbing by driving to Lake Naivasha and taking a boat cruise along the lake. Overall, this is a wonderful tour for anyone who wants a simple climbing challenge.

Itinerary

Day 1Nairobi to Mt.longonot national park and Lake Naivasha –Nairobi

Since Mt. Longonot is not very far away from Nairobi, the tour starts a bit late, at 7am. After your wonderful breakfast, our company representative shall pick you up from our agreed pickup point and drive you to Mt. Longonot national park.  Upon arrival at Mt.longonot, you shall start the hike. Mt. Longonot is 2780m above sea level and the hike to the crater rim takes around 3-5 hours depending on the level of fitness. You shall climb until the crater rim and then start moving around the crater. The distance from the gate to the crater rim is about 3.1km and navigating around the crater rim shall increase the trekking distance. The overall distance from the gate to the crater rim, moving around the crater and descending back to the gate is 10.3km. After this wonderful challenge, you shall drive to Lake Naivasha for lunch and for relaxation. Upon arrival at Lake Naivasha, you shall participate in the boat cruise where you shall stand a chance of viewing some of the aquatic animals within the lake like the hippopotamus, crocodiles. You shall spot several other species of wildlife and birds.  Later, after the boat cruise; you shall drive back to Nairobi to mark the end of this wonderful 1 day Mt. Longonot national park climbing safari in Kenya.
